Ben Peterson – Henna Vainio

Opens Saturday, August 19, 2 - 5 pm
Sat August 19 - Sun August 20, 2 - 5 pm

Summer is almost gone, but it's only starting in the Bay Area! 1599fdT is super excited to announce our first summer exhibition with a new body of two-dimensional works by artists Ben Peterson and Henna Vainio.

Ben’s panels draw from the minimal and geometrical elements of his ceramic sculptures and nod to personal influences, ranging from Neo-Concrete Movement artists to Bay Area’s Mission School. Henna’s new wall-mounted objects are also a departure from her suspended dynamics-like statues, albeit built with her characteristic use of casts made of corrugated cardboard and other common materials.

While both artists are well known for exhibiting their sculptural work and three-dimensional objects within the straight architectural surfaces of traditional art galleries, we’re very much looking forward to presenting, alternatively, their two-dimensional pieces within the confines of TamShack’s unconventional open-air setting.

This show will be the sixth of a series of weekend-long outdoor exhibitions at Tam Shack–– a spring/summer embodiment of 1599fdT, hosted in the surroundings of the founder's house in Mill Valley, CA.
